Timeless Teachings of Lord Krishna from the Bhagavad Gita
1. Karma Yoga (Chapter 2, Verse 47)
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन ।मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥
Meaning: You have the right to perform your duties, but never to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself the cause of the results, and never be attached to inaction.
2. Protection of the Righteous (Chapter 4, Verse 8)
परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् ।धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥
Meaning: To protect the righteous, destroy evil, and re-establish dharma, I manifest myself age after age.
3. Self-Upliftment (Chapter 6, Verse 5)
उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् ।आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥
Meaning: Elevate yourself through your own efforts. Do not degrade yourself. The mind can be your best friend or your greatest enemy.
4. The Eternal Soul (Chapter 2, Verse 20)
न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचिन्नायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूयः ।
Meaning: The soul is never born and never dies. It is eternal, everlasting, and beyond destruction.
5. Surrender to God (Chapter 18, Verse 66)
सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज ।अहं त्वां सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः ॥
Meaning: Abandon all forms of duty and surrender unto Me alone. I shall liberate you from all sins; do not fear.
6. The Peace Formula (Chapter 2, Verse 70)
आपूर्यमाणम् अचलप्रतिष्ठंसमुद्रमापः प्रविशन्ति यद्वत् ।
Meaning: Just as rivers flow into the ocean, which remains full and undisturbed, the wise person remains calm despite desires and distractions.
7. Divine Guidance (Chapter 10, Verse 10)
तेषां सततयुक्तानां भजतां प्रीतिपूर्वकम् ।ददामि बुद्धियोगं तं येन मामुपयान्ति ते ॥
Meaning: To those who worship Me with love and devotion, I give the wisdom by which they can come to Me.
8. Equality of Vision (Chapter 5, Verse 18)
विद्याविनयसम्पन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि ।शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः ॥
Meaning: The wise see all beings equally—whether a learned person, a cow, an elephant, a dog, or any other creature.
9. Faith and Success (Chapter 17, Verse 3)
श्रद्धामयोऽयं पुरुषो यो यच्छ्रद्धः स एव सः ॥Meaning: A person is made of their faith. Whatever one's faith is, that is what one becomes.
10. Remember Krishna Always (Chapter 8, Verse 7)
तस्मात्सर्वेषु कालेषु मामनुस्मर युध्य च ॥Meaning: Therefore, remember Me at all times and perform your duties. By dedicating your actions to Me, you will ultimately attain Me.
